Strip Lights

Govee is highly recommended (e.g. Bob Villa).

Not IC lights are not cuttable.

All Govee options with voltage are listed here.

For cuttable, 24V lights the best package appears to be H6195 from the table linked above. It is long enough to support four runs fore-aft. This model is available on Amazon:

Based on looking at the reviews and customer images, it appears that directly sourcing 24V power to the strip controller is totally possible. It also looks like splicing in lines from the controller to the start of the lights is also do-able.

These appear to be the winner. Except they aren't that bright and the led density isn't great, so...

On second thought:

We're concerned about brightness and "spottedness" of the Govee solution. If we give up on color, there are brighter, better CRI, seamless, 24V options. We settled on these lights, this driver, this controller, and this button for by the sliding door.

We will place the dimmer near the bed, and the button near the sliding door. These are wireless so they will not affect wire runs and voltage drop.

It looks like this line of tracks is compatible for the ceiling and has good mount/extension supports that could accommodate a low profile 100 degree 1/4-20 phillips. Will need to test. There are a ton of these that look equivalent. We opted for starlandleds brand track and muzata hardware. We'll see.

We were a little concerned with brightness and coverage. A comparison of two ceiling runs of the tunable white to our previous van suggests 4 times the lumens and a wider beam pattern (not sure how will be affected by the channel). Based on this we are going to start with two ceiling runs and see how that goes.

On third thought: We are pivoting to the V-shaped track for the ceiling.

According to this comment from a mounting clip amazon listing:

ISO M3 90° flat head, UTS #4-40 82° flat head, #6-32 100° flat head all recess fully. 82° is the default for inch sized flat head screws. The #6-32 82° head is too tall for the stamped countersink and may contact the extrusion and interfere with retention. 100° can be easier to find than 110° or 120°, but any of those seem to work with the stamped countersink. I don’t have any guaranteed dimensions for the countersink coining and this is based on a small sample from 2017 that may not be representative of product delivered at other times.

This pushes us towards 6-32 100 degree flat heads with 6-32 low profile clip nuts for the ceiling panel brackets. These screws are available in a 3/4 inch length which should be totally sufficient.

6-32 low profile clip nuts are for a maximum thickness material of 0.062 which limits us to 1/16 material for the ceiling panel brackets.

The widest angle that McMaster sells in 1/16 is 2 1/8 inches. This gives just over 3/4 inch of over hang. Too tight. McMaster sells 4" wide 1/16 flat aluminum. This could work (but cutting will require some thought). Could go with a send cut send approach.

Muzata joining brackets are 3/4 inch wide. This puts holes centers at 3/8 from edge of joining bracket. If we assume a 1/4 stand off from edge of L-track, this is a hole stand off of 5/8 from L-track. This corresponds to a 1/2 stand off from edge of ceiling panel assuming a 1/8 allowance for neoprene. Pretty tight given these need to be oversided holes. Will consult with soph. We will assume 3 joining brackets (6 fasteners) per ceiling panel.

Reading Lights

These look perfect: red and white modes, dimmable, and support 24V:

This is an OEM that has lots of options (but maybe not exactly what we want):

The littlite CC-EB18-LED-AW model hits all the wickets: 12-24V power, end-mount 18" gooseneck, bottom mount cord, dimming, red and white. BH has them for $135. Yikes.
